This cross-institutional UMS collaborative is designed to strengthen coordination of substance
use disorder research in the state by building connections and combining collective expertise; to advance grantmaking, research, evaluation, and technical assistance activities with local and state partners.

SUD Collaborative goals:
- Expanding surveillance and research activities with a specific focus on
vulnerable and underserved populations impacted by SUD;
- Supporting UMS faculty and staff in their research and evaluation efforts
related to SUD;
- Engaging community stakeholders in identifying community specific SUD
priorities, needs, as well as identifying community specific solutions; and
- Increasing data quality and transparency to support the implementation and
expansion of evidence-based prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery
services in Maine.
