Weekly check-in with Jessica from the UMaine 4-H Learning Centers at Tanglewood and Blueberry Cove. With the 4-H and Earth Pledges, nature appreciations (what we've been noticing in nature this week), and a reflection.
I am not going to deny that these are challenging times and that there are days when I am overwhelmed by everything going on in the world (today is one of those days). On these days or in moments where everything feels like too much, I try to center myself on the earth and anything that helps ground me. This includes listening to music, spending time outdoors (walking), remembering why I work here, and the Laws of Ecology. I've talked about them before, but the Laws of Ecology are pretty awesome; today, "Everything Changes" was the focus point. I find this Law the hardest sometimes mostly because it comes with a great deal of uncertainty and that which is beyond (sometimes) my ability to do anything about it. Rather than getting bogged down, I think about the plants that have lived on this planet for so long and how they have evolved to thrive through what change throws their way. Everything changes-- and, what can we do to connect to that in a positive way. How can we also make changes, for the better? Big stuff to ponder this Tuesday.
I hope you and yours are doing well, staying heathly. Take care of yourselves. ❤️🍀
